Italia Morayta Award for conference interpreters Any Mexican or foreign interpreter over the age of 65 who uses Spanish as one of their working languages, who has shown outstanding ethics and professionalism, and whose career has been characterized by promoting knowledge among new generations of interpreters.
Italia Morayta Award for translators Any Mexican or foreign translator over the age of 65 who uses Spanish as one of their working languages, who has shown outstanding ethics and professionalism, and whose career has been characterized by promoting knowledge among new generations of translators.
Italia Morayta Award for community interpreters Any Mexican or foreign interpreter or any Mexican or foreign organization who promotes the rights to health or justice in the language of the interested party, where this is an indigenous Mexican language.
Italia Morayta Award for research work Any Mexican or foreign graduate at undergraduate, masters or doctorate level in the fields of translation or interpreting may present a piece of research (undergraduate or masters thesis) in Spanish that has been completed in the past 4 years, and is no longer than 35,000 words. This text must be accompanied by an abstract of no more than 1,500 words.

When does the call for submissions close?

The call for submissions is open from July 1 to August 30, 2016.

Who is the jury?

The jury comprises the STEERING COMMITTEE of the Italia Morayta Foundation and two specialists in the area selected by the same Committee.

What is the prize?

In 2017, the Italia Morayta Prize will comprise a diploma, a 20 peso gold Azteca coin and a print by a Mexican artist. From 2018, the 20 peso gold Azteca will be replaced by a 50 peso gold Centenario.

How often is the prize awarded?

In 2017 the Italia Morayta Prize will be awarded in all four categories, and beginning in 2018 it will be awarded in a different category each year.
